Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 August 2026
Type Travellers is made by Abrar Online Ltd., based in United Kingdom. It is built for children, which shapes every decision below: we collect the least we can, we never let children hold their own accounts, and we do not track anybody around the internet.
The short version
- We never record what your child types. Not their keystrokes, not a timing stream, not a log.
- Children have no email address and no password in the family product — they are profiles inside a grown-up's account.
- No advertising, no ad networks, no third-party trackers, no profiling.
- No open chat of any kind, with anyone, ever.
- Your data is processed in the UK, and you can export or erase it yourself. Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, we use only providers bound to equivalent legal protection.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Abrar Online Ltd., United Kingdom. For any privacy question or to exercise a right, write to info@typetravellers.com.
The waiting list
If you join our waiting list we collect your first name, your email address, and the date and time you gave consent. We use them for one purpose only — to tell you when Type Travellers opens and to send you your 20% early-supporter code. We do not use them for anything else, we do not share them with anyone, and we do not profile you.
- Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given by ticking the box on the form. You may withdraw it at any time by writing to info@typetravellers.com, or by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
- What happens when you sign up: your entry is stored straight away. You will not receive a confirmation message — we will write to you once, before launch, with your code. If you did not sign up yourself, write to us and we will delete the entry.
- Unsubscribing: every email we send will carry a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you at any time, before any email exists, at the address above.
- Retention (proposed, pending review): waiting-list entries are deleted within 90 days of launch, or immediately on request or unsubscribe — whichever comes first.
- Kept apart from the app: the waiting list lives on its own server. It is not stored in the Type Travellers app and is never linked to any child's account.
- The waiting list is for adults. Please do not sign up if you are under 16; ask a parent or guardian to sign up instead.
- We never sell, rent or share your address with anyone. We do not store your IP address.
What we hold on a child
Once you have an account and add a child profile, we hold only what the game needs to work:
- A display name — a first name or nickname, chosen by you.
- An optional year of birth — the year only, never a full date of birth, and only where an age band is genuinely needed.
- Progress — which lessons were completed, stars earned, scholars met, badges and quiz scores.
- Typing signal, in aggregate only — counts of how often each key was mistyped, so practice can steer toward the tricky ones. These are counts, not a record of anything your child wrote.
- Game state — experience points, coins, streak, best speed, avatar choices.
What we deliberately do not hold
- Raw keystrokes, in any form. The app sends a summary of each attempt — speed, accuracy, duration, per-key mistake counts — and nothing else.
- A child's email address or password (family accounts).
- A full date of birth.
- Any free-typed text. The only text a child ever types is a fixed lesson drill we wrote, so there is no message content to monitor in the first place.
- Location data, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
Schools
Where a school uses Type Travellers, the school administers its own pupils' accounts and acts as the consent authority for them under its own agreement with parents. A school's teachers and administrators can see their own pupils' full names and progress in order to teach; nobody outside that school can. Schools do not have self-service deletion or export — contact us and we handle those requests under the school's agreement.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you may:
- See and export everything we hold on your account and its children — available as a one-click download from your account settings.
- Erase your account, which permanently deletes every child profile and all their progress with it. This is a hard deletion, not a hidden flag.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Withdraw consent for emails at any time.
- Complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Cookies and analytics
This website uses no advertising cookies and no cross-site trackers. Where we measure how many people visit a page, we use privacy-friendly analytics that do not set identifying cookies and do not follow you to other sites. The app itself uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and — if you are on our list — by email.
